Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in Warangal, criticized Congress leader Sam Pitroda's recent remarks on skin color, asserting that insults based on skin tone will not be tolerated by the people of India. Modi specifically targeted Pitroda's comment, demanding explanations from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the party's stance on President Droupadi Murmu's candidacy. Alleging Congress's bias against Murmu due to her skin color, Modi stated, "I got to know that there is an uncle in America who is the philosophical guide of 'Shehzada' and just like the third umpire in cricket, this 'Shehzada' takes advice from the third umpire."

The BJP condemned Pitroda's remarks as racist and divisive, highlighting the party's stance on India's cultural diversity. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the Congress leadership's approach, attributing it to "foreign mindset" and emphasizing the BJP's commitment to preserving India's identity. Meanwhile, the Congress distanced itself from Pitroda's analogies, with senior leader Jairam Ramesh labeling them "unfortunate and unacceptable."
